COVID-19 Response Autumn 2021 (updated 29 November 2021)

COVID-19 remains a serious health risk. You should stay cautious to help protect yourself and others.

  • get vaccinated as soon as you are eligible

  • booster jabs are available for everyone aged 40 and over

  • everyone aged 16 and over is eligible to be fully vaccinated, and single doses are being offered to all 12- to 15-year-olds (opens in a new window)

  • meeting outdoors is safer, if you meet indoors, let fresh air in

  • from Tuesday 30 November, it is compulsory to wear a face covering in shops and public transport

  • you should also consider wearing a face covering in crowded or enclosed settings where you come into contact with people you do not normally meet

  • get tested and follow new self-isolate rules if you have tested positive for the Omicron variants

  • stay at home if you are unwell

  • regularly wash your hands, if you can't use soap and water, wash your hand with alcohol-based hand sanitiser containing at least 70% alcohol

  • download and use the NHS COVID-19 App

  • from Tuesday 30 November, anyone entering the UK will require a PCR test within 48 hours of arrival (opens in a new window and will need to self-isolate until they have a negative result, even if they have been vaccinated
